Celebrate the start of an exciting new chapter with fellow Cal alumni, current students, and the newest members of the Cal community at our annual Summer Welcome Party!  Family and friends are warmly invited for an unforgettable afternoon of connection, celebration, and Golden Bear spirit.

$15 to $25 per person suggested donation for Cal Alumni.

Alumni volunteers are needed to setup before and clean-up after event. Cal alumni should include their volunteer interest when they register for the Summer Welcome Party.

Volunteer for the 2026 CAA Leadership Award

San Diego Cal alumni can make a tangible impact for future Cal leaders by reading and scoring undergraduate scholarship applications and interviewing incoming Cal students for the Leadership Award (TLA).   Scholarship readings are done online and interviews are conducted virtually.

Established in 1934, the Leadership Award (TLA) offers a multi-year scholarship. It supports visionary, innovative, and inspiring leaders who make a positive impact on their communities.

Date:  Various dates in June and July 2026

Date/Time:  Saturday, December 20, 2025 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., PT
Location:  1881 Valencia Avenue, Carlsbad, CA

 

Dress warmly since the event is outdoors.

2025 Summer Welcome Party Pictures

The San Diego Cal Alumni Club hosted the 2025 Summer Welcome Party on Friday, July 19, 2025

This year’s summer barbecue was held at the home of Helen Barker, Cal Alumni in Carlsbad, California.

Over 140 incoming students, current students, alumni and guests attended the event from San Diego County, Orange County and Riverside County.

Congratulations to the newest members of the Cal family as they start their college journey at Berkeley. Go Bears!

Young Adult (13-20):  $50
12 and Under:  Free

Ticket includes food, beverages, beer and wine in a private tailgating space just for Cal fans.
