Monday, February 12th, 6:30 – 8:30 PM
National University
11255 N Torrey Pines Rd
La Jolla, CA 92037
Professor Jeffrey Ravel, who received his Master’s and PhD from Cal-Berkeley, is head of the History section of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at MIT. He will speak on the state of the department, on the MIT Museum of Maritime History, with which he is heavily involved, and his research into the history of French playing cards. The author of several books and involved in the revival of 18th century French theatre, he is, in MIT fashion, bringing data analysis and digital techniques to the study of history. Professor Ravel will provide an entertaining and educational talk on his work.
Come join us for an evening of good conversation around how MIT and Cal help make the best scientists and engineers into well rounded leaders.
Dinner and networking will begin at 6:30. A Mediterranean dinner from Luna Grill will be served. The talk will begin at 7:15 followed by a Q&A session.
